The Folsom Table: Buy the Original
The pair where we tell you to spend the $1,299. The $229 cube in the roundups shares the Folsom's blocky wood look — and almost nothing else. It's half the length, 16″ shallower, 3.5″ lower, has no drawer, and carries a 33 lb weight capacity against a 200 lb-class Pottery Barn table. A 30″ cube does not anchor a sofa the way a 60″ × 40″ Grand does.

Our verdict: buy the original. The size match fails, and size is the product here. A coffee table's job is to anchor a sofa and hold the life that happens around it — books, trays, feet — and a 30″ cube with a 33 lb capacity can't do either at Grand scale. If you want a cube on the board, reframe it honestly as a small-space Folsom look, with the 30″ size stated up front. As a Grand substitute, it's a no.
Where the money goes
- The scale: 60″ × 40″ is a presence; 30″ × 24″ is an accent. The $1,070 gap buys the difference between a table that grounds a living room and one that floats in it.
- The drawer: the Grand's storage drawer is the quiet workhorse — remotes, coasters, the clutter that otherwise lives on top. The cube has a hollow center and no drawer at all.
- The capacity: 33 lbs is a couple of books and a tray, not feet-up movie nights. The Grand's 200 lb-class build is the difference between furniture and decor.
