Linen Sheets: Double the Price, Same Holes

Parachute's linen is the spec-sheet winner — a denser 175 GSM cloth woven and sewn in Portugal, $359–$379 for a queen set. Quince's is lighter European flax at $184. Then you read the owner reviews, including on Parachute's own site, and the premium story falls apart: both linens eventually tear — only one of them costs twice as much when it does.

Our verdict: the alternative wins. At $184, a three-year life works out to about $61 a year; Parachute owners reporting holes inside two years are paying $180+ a year — for a softer first month, not a longer life. The honest catch: Quince's cloth is lighter (150 vs 175 GSM) and sheds a startling amount of lint for the first several washes.
